Anticipation Is Building

24 hours, 3 different planes, 3 times through baggage check and security checkpoints, 1 cursing lady, and more than a few Red Bulls later we finally made it to Arequipa… and we couldn’t be more excited!

The team is pumped to be here. Most of us have spent the morning trying to catch up on lost sleep. Pastor Mike P. forwent the morning nap, but now that we have eaten lunch he seems to be making up for it. We had lunch at a place called el Pollo Real, or something like that. The chicken there is slow roasted over a wood fire. I was glad to know, by the name, that the chicken was REAL! Always a good sign!

Right now I wouldn’t describe the feeling among the team as restless, I would simply say that anticipation is building. We will soon be heading out to a meeting at Celebration Arequipa to get an orientation on tomorrow’s children’s event. Our team from the U.S. is already forming great connections with the team here in Arequipa.

All of us are eager to get started with what we came here to do, and that is to share the love of Jesus Christ with the people of Arequipa, Peru. I have been thinking about Ephesians 3:20 that says, “For unto God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we can ask or think, according to the power that is at work in us.”

We have high expectations so we know that God is going to do amazing things.
