DC Missions Trip

brittany-resizedThe first day of the missions trip during my quiet time God led me to this verse.

John 12:25-26 (NKJV)
25) “He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.
26) “If anyone serves Me, let him follow me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My father will honor.

That verse is so perfect for this trip. We are here to serve others, to be a blessing and to share God’s word & love with others. One of the most impacting experiences for me was when we went to serve at the Southeast White House. It’s an inner city after school program. There was one young girl there named Ilesha, she was thirteen years old. I saw so much strength, kindness and faithfulness in her. One of the activities we did with them was to create a prayer box which held the prayer requests that each child had. In decorating her prayer box she quoted scriptures and captured stories from the bible with pictures. Myself and two other ladies went with her to write out her prayers and each took turns writing the prayers down. All her prayers were filled with blessings over her family and friends. The last prayer that she wrote down was for me & the two other women that were praying for her. She began to pray for us to have strength, protection and just thanked God for us, His beautiful creation. By that time there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. It was so amazing to see a young girl seeking after God’s heart the way that she was. What a blessing it was for me to see that the future generation is strong in their beliefs and so filled with his love and joy despite their circumstances. It reminded me of when I hear people talk about this future generation as a doomed generation and that it’s too late and they are lost. It was a light in the darkness…God isn’t done with this generation and He has great things in store for them.

God Bless,
