No Judgin’ in the Park Man.

lindsey gahdnahSo I’m standing in the  park at 8:30 pm last night and there were many groups of young ticos smoking weed. Apparently it’s not that rare to smoke weed in public in Costa Rica. Our initial intstincts were to stray away from these groups, but God had different plans.

We began talking to them, though they did not speak a lick of english and we only spoke a few spanish words. Trying to communicate was a little difficult. After talking to them for a little bit we figured out a couple of there names, Jorge and Luis. Then we moved on and talked to some others in the park, but at the end of the night we ended up talking to Jorge and Luis again and their group of friends for a long time. At first they didn’t take us seriously, and there were more interested in our appearances. A few of us on the team have tattoos and body peircings, the ticos we were talking to also had peircings, so they did not understand that God still loved us the same with the tats and peircings. Jorge assumed that Christians were supposed to be perfect, which he learned last night that Christians were just like him and his friends only difference was we had excepted Christ as our Savior, and he too could except Christ.

We all invited him to church this morning, hoping and praying that he shows up to the Celebracion Costa Rica =)
