Greece Missions Team – Spiritual Kinship…

As a Greek(100%) woman born and raised in America, and I am so blessed to be here at this time in my adult life…I sense a spiritual kinship with the people.  Each day I find myself identifying with them more and more…and it comforts me to now know how to pray for them, as well as for ME.  I love to just sit and watch them…as I sit in a cafe’ observing faces, expressions, behaviors…I sense a passionate, and intense spirit, as though looking in the mirror.  I witness two women in deep conversation, very animated using their hands to speak, and full of life… an elderly Greek man sitting quietly alone deep in thought with worry beads (a string of beautiful beads they fiddle with in their hands to calm the nerves), perhaps leaning on his own understanding?

Pastor Gail calls it an “autocratic spirit” (self reliant, as she puts it). AUTOCRATIC (adjective). The adjective AUTOCRATIC has 2 senses: 1. offensively self-assured or given to exercising usually unwarranted power, 2. characteristic of an absolute ruler or absolute rule; having absolute sovereignty (from, which helps explain our boldness, strong will/personalities…wow, God can really use the Greek people at this time, as Pastor Stovall often preaches boldness and intensity in the days ahead…Lord, we need the Greek people to come to the knowledge of who they are in Christ Jesus!  The world needs them now!!  It is time, if it be your will Father…

I find these verses from Saint Paul help to put it in perspective for me…1Corinthians 1:18-25 esv…For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart.” Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe?  Where is the debater of this age?  Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?  For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe.  For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisom of God.  For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.  Thank you God for you hear our prayers…Amen.

My son, Evan (22) and I, will be meeting with some of my relatives today, praying for Gods blessings, and Gods will.-Patti (Poniota) Mohr
